One of the most important aspects of a healthy lawn is healthy soil.
Aeration is a process that removes cylinder shaped cores from the sod layer to allow proper water drainage, reduce soil compaction, inspire oxygen movement and minimize thatch.
For cool grass’s in Central Oregon David’s Caretaking recommends Aerating your turf grass at least once per year every 1-3 years depending on a couple key factors. Factors such as a heavy winter, grass type and lots of foot traffic may require Aeration to be done more frequently. Aeration is largely useful in the early spring and early fall prior to fertilizing.
